Finning Power Systems announces the availability of higher rated MaK® 12M 32 C and 16M 32 C generator sets for commercial marine applications.
Finning Power Systems (Finning), the UK’s sole dealer of MaK engines is now offering a 12 per cent increase in power output on the proven 12M 32 C and 16 M 32C marine generator engine series, increasing the bkW per cylinder from 500 bkW to 560 bKW.
Models in the MaK range are now available with a higher power density without any increase in footprint, offering the potential for operators to reduce engine size and fuel consumption, without compromising efficiency.
The MaK range of engines, already well proven in marine applications throughout the world, offers economical, clean and reliable medium-speed service, providing electrical power for vessels’ lighting, pumps, heating, ventilation, steerage and controls as well as standby power for emergency applications.
Models are available to suit a variety of fuel types, including heavy fuel oils and diesel options. This enables customers to tailor their engine package to suit the fuel source most readily available.
The engines have a 25-degree tilt capability in all directions. A 12-cylinder option offers a power rating of 6720 bkW at both 720 and 750 rpm, while the 16-cylinder power rating is available at 8960 bkW at both 720 and 750 rpm.
The range is built to meet stringent environmental and safety quality standards, including IMO Tier II regulations and is approved for use in offshore environments by all leading marine classification societies. Every engine is tested rigorously prior to leaving the factory and complete packages can also be tested to demonstrate performance.
Marine applications require equipment that can withstand harsh conditions, but equally important, is the need to offer engine solutions that can meet specific power demands, without impacting on installation costs or operational requirements.
All engines in the MaK range are therefore offered with Finning’s comprehensive service support package, which incorporates numerous innovations to help the customer drive down costs. From emergency repair, to scheduled overhaul, to remote monitoring to the provision of genuine MaK spare parts, Finning offers a range of tailored maintenance packages to provide ongoing support of the customer’s investment.
The MaK range of engines features easily removable cylinder heads, quick-change fluid connections and 40 per cent fewer components over conventional designs. This helps to improve the ease and speed of maintenance to reduce downtime during routine service.
