It’s been nearly a year since Jaus Neigum took home the title of World’s Best Operator at the Cat® Global Operator Challenge, and he’s still seeing the benefits of participating in the competition. His latest perk came in mid-December when Finning Canada presented him with a 259D3 Cat Skid Steer as a prize for winning the challenge. “It’s really sunk in, how important that competition was. It feels really good,” said Jaus.
It’s been a long journey with Finning to take home top spot in the Operator Challenge. The preliminary competition took place in Edmonton in the summer of 2019, with the top contenders going to the North American Regional Operator Challenge in North Carolina, and the grand finale and awarding of the World’s Best Operator happening at CONEXPO in Vegas in March 2020.
Neigum who owns Industrial Backhoes Ltd. in his hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta is a long-time customer of Finning’s. “Our relationship with Finning has been excellent over the years. We run a couple backhoes and skid steers and the service from Finning has been second-to-none. They really look after us and make sure we’re happy with what we’ve got,” said Jaus.
Jaus is looking forward to adding the new skid steer to his fleet. “I definitely like what they’ve done with it – there’s a little more leg room in it. I’m excited to try the integration between the attachments. All in all, I think it’s a real nimble looking machine. I’m excited to run it and I’m thrilled Finning gifted it to me”.
