How Renting an Aerial Work Platform Can Help Your Business
2 November 2020
Sometimes working at height can be easily and safely accomplished with just a ladder. But if you find your team members are at height regularly, an aerial work platform might make a major difference in efficiency and safety. Fortunately, you can rent one and don’t necessarily have to invest in one to discover whether an aerial work platform will benefit your business.
The main types of aerial work platforms are scissor lifts and articulating and telescopic booms. Here’s how they compare:
Scissor lifts
Scissor lifts move up and down vertically and are available in electric and fuel-powered models. Electric lifts are used mainly for inside work ranging from 19 to 40 feet. Fuel-powered lifts are used mainly outside.
Articulating and telescopic boom lifts
Telescopic boom lifts are just that — they move in and out and rotate. These lifts give you a direct line to the work area. Articulating boom lifts are designed for up-and-over capabilities, and they rotate.
Both styles can give you a range of 30 to well over 100 feet. There are track options available for some ranges as well.
Benefits of aerial work platforms
- Increased safety
- Improved ease of access
- Availability of multiple sizes and styles for different applications
- Ability to be welder ready
- Improved lifting capacity
Aerial work platforms are used by a wide range of companies. For example, renters of this type of equipment include construction companies, maintenance companies, building erectors, general contractors, airline companies, warehouse owners, and wharf and dock operations.
Some of the activities aerial work platforms are used for include steel erection, lighting maintenance (inside and out), and electrical and mechanical work.
Other advantages of renting an aerial work platform
Renting gives you the chance to try out equipment to see if it meets your needs, but there are other benefits too. For example, if your equipment needs maintenance, you won’t have to worry about the cost. Plus, if one type of aerial work platform isn’t working for you or if your needs change, it’s easy to swap it for another.
