Finning sponsored the Make-A-Wish Rope for Hope event in Edmonton and had two teams from Finning and OEM participate. Our employees were amongst 64 participants who raised money for Make-A-Wish kids and in exchange got to rappel down a 23-story building. Finning was the top corporate fundraising team and OEM was fourth collectively raising $40,000 of the total of nearly $150,000 which will grant 15 wishes to wish kids in northern Alberta.
“Thank you to everyone at Finning and OEM for embracing the challenge and confronting your fears in support of our very courageous wish children. You went above and beyond and because of your incredible efforts, you have empowered children with life threatening medical conditions to fight harder against their illnesses. We are immensely grateful for your bravery and support,” Cathy Gabucci, CEO Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta.
“I’d like to recognize everyone involved from our volunteers to my colleagues who were brave enough to rappel down the side of a building and be heroes for such a great cause,” said Joel Harrod, SVP power systems for Finning Canada. “I am proud to have participated in this incredible adventure with my co-workers which was such an amazing success for Make-A-Wish.”
A big thank you to all our volunteers who helped out at the event on July 11 at the Coast Edmonton Plaza and kudos to our Make-A-Wish heroes for making a huge difference by participating in the Rope for Hope event.
