Finning Gives Homelessness The Boot

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – The people of Finning Canada are supporting Homeless Connect by collecting work boots for those in need. For some, these boots are the only thing standing between them and food and housing.

“Our people have always been involved in supporting the communities where we live and work and this boot drive is one more way to give back. Last year our employees collected over 100 pairs of used safety boots and every pair was picked up at the Homeless Connect event here in Edmonton. We are pleased once again, to participate in this community effort to help those who just need a small break to get back on their feet,” said Felipe Fuentes, vice president, environment and health and safety, Finning Canada.

This year, Finning is hoping to collect even more boots. Want to help out? If you have a pair of work boots you’re not using or are looking to replace, you can drop them off at any Finning or Cat Rental Store location in Edmonton through the month of April.

“The need is greater than ever,” said Jenn Dermott, co-chair of Homeless Connect. “And with the economy starting to pick up and construction jobs on the rise, these boots can make a world of difference to someone who needs them to get back in the work force.”

All the work boots collected through the Finning Boot Drive in April will be donated to Homeless Connect for their May 7th event at the Shaw Conference Centre.
