Edmonton, Alberta – Finning Canada and the Caterpillar Foundation today announced a contribution of $170,000 to provide relief for the flood impacted areas in southern Alberta. Funds will go towards The Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund and The Red Cross. Finning employees showcased their spirit of generosity adding $20,000 to the corporate donation of $150,000.
"I am proud of our employees’ generosity as well as how they immediately came together to care for our customers and provide much needed aid in the aftermath of the flood. We are committed to doing our part to support affected areas by mobilizing equipment and personnel required for all facets of the recovery and relief efforts, from restoring power to City Hall and rebuilding the Calgary Stampede track to assisting in the long-term clean-up," said Andy Fraser, Finning Canada president. “These donations will support two worthwhile causes – the Red Cross that is working around-the-clock to meet the immediate needs of residents and the Flood Rebuilding Fund that will assist in the long-term needs in Calgary, Canmore, High River and surrounding First Nation communities. We know that long after the flood waters have receded there will be a lot of work to get people back on their feet and rebuild neighbourhoods and public spaces.”
In addition to the contribution announced today, Finning and Cat Rental Store employees have assisted with flood response through the deployment of a wide range of products and services such as generators, pumps, fans and light towers, as well as technicians to keep emergency management organizations and customers operating throughout Calgary, High River and Medicine Hat. Drawing upon the inventory and skilled technicians from across the dealer’s western Canadian territory, Finning will continue to partner with its customers to help affected areas.
"The Caterpillar Foundation supports disaster relief efforts around the world as part of its dedication to communities where employees live and work. Our hearts go out to those affected by the flooding in southern Alberta, and we hope this contribution will aid in the relief effort,” said Michele Sullivan, Caterpillar Foundation President.
