COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Length: 1 x 8-hour day
Target Audience: Non-Ticketed Employees

AFA Introduction covers the management of failure analysis. Basic principles of metallurgy, wear, and fractures, as well as effective communication will be covered. The course consists of classroom instruction and laboratory exercises and concludes with an examination of a failure analysis report of a failure that occurred in the field.

After completion of the course the participant will a basic understanding of:

  • The management of Applied Failure Analysis from start to finish.
  • Basic Metallurgy.
  • The seven common types of wear.
  • The different types of fractures.
  • Root cause explanation.
  • A written failure analysis report and the steps included to complete one.
