COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Length: 2 days (10 hrs/day)
Target Audience: Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs), Reliability Engineers (REs)

C-175 Engine for Large Mining Mobile Equipment



PPE Required

Participants must provide their own safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, and coveralls with Hi-Visibility Markings.

PREREQUISITES

Customer must supply machine for practical portion of class, to be available throughout the class duration. All training done on customer site will be in accordance with site policies and procedures.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 After completion of the course the participant will be able to: 

  • Engine overview and changes from the 3500 series engine 

  • Fuel system overview @ system operation 

  • High pressure pump operation and control 

  • Valve train and valve lash overview 

  • Practical session on the shop floor with training engine 

  • Guided tour around the engine and sensor location 

  • Timing and pinning the engine to T.D.C.C 

  • Fuel injector removal and installation 

  • Sensor network, datalink and system control 

  • Cooling system overview @ “E” Stat system operation 

  • Oil lubrication overview & system operation 

  • Sensor lab by students 

  • Cooling system and lubrication system identification (on engine) 

  • Fuel system review and component identification 

  • Introduction to new Tier 4 system used on newer engine 

Successful completion of a written examination with a passing grade that is established by the customer prior to exam:  (Customer ranges can vary -70%, 75%, 80%)
