Fuel promise supports low consumption and reduced emissions on new Cat® models

In an unprecedented new initiative Finning UK & Ireland supports the fuel economy on the latest models of Cat® machines. The fuel promise is available to customers who take one of the company’s service contracts (Customer Value Agreements) when they purchase any of the latest models of excavators, wheel loaders, dozers and trucks.

Andrew Bradbury, Product Manager at Finning, the world’s largest dealer of Cat machines, parts and aftermarket services, explains: “For most industrial operations using heavy plant machinery, fuel can account for up to 30% of costs. Although fuel prices have stabilised in the UK & Ireland, we have still seen a significant increase over the last few years and the long-term picture is uncertain at best. Add to that the fact that sustainability is going to remain a key concern across the industrial sector, and there are plenty of reasons to prioritise keeping fuel use to an absolute minimum”.

“As this issue has grown in importance, there’s a lot of talk about the fuel economy across the industry. We wanted to do more than just talk, so we’ve put the work in to provide robust data that plant operators can use to plan for cost efficiency and emissions reduction”.

“So rather than just making a claim around low fuel consumption, we’re making a promise to our customers. Anyone buying a new Cat machine with one of our Customer Value Agreements means we can guarantee the average fuel consumption will be below a certain level specified for that machine”.

The fuel promise states that Finning will reimburse the customer in the form of credits if consumption levels rise above the agreed level.

Andrew continues: “This promise is another practical aspect of our commitment to helping customers achieve maximum effectiveness from their machinery with minimal hassle. The new generation of Cat machines are engineered for efficiency and come with several new onboard features like auto idle shutdown and payload technology that directly reduce fuel consumption. For larger operations, telematics is helping to manage the overall efficiency of the fleet”.
