Irish building and civil engineering company MMD Construction has taken advantage of the potential fuel savings on offer by taking delivery of a brand new Cat® 329EL hydraulic excavator from Finning, to work across a number of sites in Ireland.
Adding to a fleet that already has a number of Cat machines, the Cat 329EL hydraulic excavator will offer MMD Construction a robust and versatile machine that gives increased performance compared to its predecessor and using 3% less fuel. This will offer the company potential fuel savings over the lifespan of the machine and helps MMD Construction comfortably meet emissions standards.
Tomás O’Donovan, Managing Director at MMD, said: “We have always opted for a premium build product and the Caterpillar plant equipment that we have had experience of has given us maximum productivity. It’s now becoming increasingly difficult to operate machinery without meeting certain emissions standards, and we needed a machine that would not only provide us with that requirement, but also offer the company a return on investment.”
“The Cat 329EL offers us fantastic payback potential and gives us the capability to lower our operating costs quite dramatically. It also supports our drive to be a more sustainable business.”
The Cat 329EL hydraulic excavator features a Cat C7.1 ACERT™ engine, which delivers more horsepower while using 3% less fuel than the previous D series, and meets Stage IIIB emission standards. The machine is also equipped with Cat Product Link, which provides data on fuel consumption, idle time and machine location amongst others, to help the company manage its fleet effectively.
Dave Egan, Sales Representative at Finning, said: “Due to the number of projects MMD Construction undertake, it was imperative that we provided them with a machine that is flexible and durable to work in any application. The Cat 329EL is built to work in rugged environments and gives the company an economical and reliable performance that uses less fuel without sacrificing performance.”
“The machine has a service agreement that includes Finsight condition monitoring by our team of dedicated engineers in Cannock. As part of the monitoring service MMD will be alerted of any potential issues on the machine, enabling them to efficiently plan maintenance activity to minimise machine downtime.”
